Lab 27 Reflection Journal

For this lab, I opened up my lab 26 flash file and I saved it as lab 27 in my lab 27 folder. Then I created 2 new scenes by going to insert-scene. In the second scene I used the rectangle tool with a red fill color to make a red background then I used the text tool to write oopps you lose. Then I created a button that says try again and I changed it's color in the hover and down area. I renamed the layer that had the background and button as contents. Then I clicked on the button and went to the properties panel and gave it an instance name. In the third scene I repeated the steps except that I used a green fill color and I put the text congrats you win and the button that I made said start over again. Then I selected the button and went to my actions panel and I clicked on code snippets-timeline navigation-click to go to scene and play. I changed the scene to scene 1 so it would go back to that scene when I clicked on the button. I copied and pasted the code into my scene 2 actions panel and I changed the objects name and the functions name.
Then I went to my scene one and I put an obstacle and a x mark to show where the cat needs to go to and what to avoid so you won't lose. Then I selected the cat and I inserted a new code into my actions panel that tells ActionScript that if the cat goes into this area to play the scene where it says you win, and if the cat goes onto this certain area then to play the scene where it says you lose. This lab was a bit hard because I first had trouble with my code because it kept on blinking but then I read what was wrong in the compilers errors panel and I tried to fix it according to that and also I had reference to the code provided to me so I was able to fix the errors and make it work with both using the keyboard and the arrows. I really liked how it came out in the end and I am really happy with getting it work since I am still getting used to AS.

Lab 26 Reflection Journal

In this lab, I used ActionScript to move an object. First I used the rectangle tool to make a rectangle and I used the selection tool to make the rectangle turn into a triangle. Then I selected it and right clicked and converted it into a graphic symbol then I re-sized it and right clicked it and converted it into a button symbol. I named the instances after putting all the 4 buttons on the stage according to how the button looks. I renamed the layer with the arrow buttons as controls, then I created 2 new layers which I named objects and actions. Then I imported a cat from an external library and put it into my onjects layer. Then I went to my actions layer and I went to my actions panel and I clicked on code snippets and I went to event handlers and clicked on click mouse event and then I changed it according to the arrow button and also I gave my cat an instance name and I changed the signs and the coordinates. Then I clicked command eneter and when it worked then I went to code snippet, animation and I clicked on move with keyboard arrow. When I finished I uploaded it into the server after putting it into my html document. I liked this lab because I found it cool to know how to be able to move an object using the keyboards and buttons. Also I didn't have any difficulties completing this lab and I like how the final product came out.

Lab 25 Reflection Journal

For this lab, I used Actionscript 3.0 syntax on my flash file. First I opened Flash and then I created 3 layers in the order: actions, buttons, and content. Then I created 2 buttons on the first frame and I cretaed a frame on 10 and I gave the buttons instance names. Then on the content layer, I put the text home and I put a star on the frame 1. Then on frame 2 I inserted a keyframe and and wrote the word page 2 and I put a cat. Then on the actions layer, I made the first frame a keyframe and I went to windows actions and then typed in the code. When I finished I clicked command enter to see if it works and then I inserted it in my Dreamweaver file and uploaded it onto the server. This lab was a bit hard to do since it was my first time but I am glad that I got it to work out well.

Lab 24 Reflection Journal

In this lab I created a mask in my flash file. It shows a girl walking and then stopping to think about cars moving in perspective. I used the 2 animations I already had before and following the instructions from the handout given in class I created a mask. I used the ellipse tool and I right clicked on the new layer mask that I made and clicked mask and then I clicked command enter to check it out. I used the car animation and also I took one of the girls in my respect for all animation. I also created the background having the setting seem like it's night time. When I finished everything and made sure that it worked then I inserted it into my base html document for lab 24 and uploaded it onto the server. This lab for me was a bit hard because I got confused with the layers trying to make the background not cover the mask but then I found the solution to my problem. I also had a bit of a problem trying to update the swf file on Dreamweaver since it only showed how it looked before I edited it when I uploaded the html document but when I previewed it in a browser it worked. I also solved this problem by saving the flash file with another name and inserting that swf file in my html document and then it finally worked. Besides the problems I faced, this lab was okay. I am proud of how the final product came out looking. These skills will help me when I want to create a mask when using the software Adobe Flash CS6.

Lab 23 Reflection Journal

In this lab, I created an flash animation of cars moving in perspective of the vanishing point. First I created a new flash file and then I created the graphics I was going to use. I drew the scenery, the trees, and I also drew the back side of a car. Then when I drew everything using the shapes tool and converted it into a graphic symbol then I went online and I chose a car that has a front view. I went to PhotoshopCS6 to erase the background so I only have the image of the car and then i imported it into the stage of my flash file. I resized the image and then I converted the two cars into a movie clip. When I finished then I double clicked on the image and then I inserted keyframes, added motion tween and resized the image so it looks like the car is vanishing when it goes towards the vanishing point and the other car looks like it's getting bigger when it goes away from the vanishing point. Then when I finished I pressed command enter to make sure it works and then I inserted it into my base html document for lab 23 and I put a text hyperlink for the copyright and the brief explanation of this lab then I uploaded it onto the server.

CTE Expo Reflection Journal

The CTE Expo we did yesterday was about sophomores, juniors, and seniors showing their work to the freshman to make them interested in their CTE academy so they can apply to it. It took place in the CTE academies. In the CTE Expo, I saw the computers that displayed the juniors and seniors work and portfolios and on the tables there were boards of the business cards/logos that the sophomores did. Everyone in our web academy was dressed up professionally and we welcomed in the freshman classes that came to visit our academy. There were two people outside the door welcoming in the class and there were 2 other people giving out flyers about the academy and also there were people directing the freshman so that they would be able to see everything without it being too crowded.
The juniors, sophomores, and seniors approached the freshmans and talked to them about our web academy and also their works and how they did it and also their experiences. I saw a lot of people engaging in conversation and walking around looking at the work displayed. I think the CTE Expo this year went very well and it can improve if the freshman aren't too shy to ask questions that they want to ask because we were very well prepared and organized. We also were able to visit the other CTE academies, video and apple. I found the expo to be very nice especially since I could see what we are going to do senior year and I also would be able to improve my communications skills. So I found the CTE Expo to be very useful.

Project 4 Reflection Journal

In this project, I created an respect for all animation. The message this animation gives is to not judge others because they're different from them and to respect them instead. The storyline is that a group of people are together and a person that looks different from them comes and approaches them and they ignore her, leaving her all alone. I used Adobe Flash CS6 to create this animation. First I drew all the graphics and when I finished that I converted them into movie clips and using the timeline I inserted keyframes and then animated the objects to move. I enjoyed making the graphics for this project especially because I knew how to utilize the tools now and I made instances of the symbol so that really saved me a lot of time and was very efficient too for the file sizes. The hard part about this project was the timing. In the beginning I messed up and I restarted it because the scene came out different from how it was in the storyboard and I had to make adjustments for that. It was also a bit hard to get the timing to be right. Since it would be too fast and you wouldn't be able to read the words, so I had to extend the keyframes for that to make it slower but I didn't know how much to extend it by so it would go smoothly. So I tested it out when I pressed command enter and when I thought that it was at an okay pace, I left it like that. Then I published the sf file and i inserted it into my html document and then put a brief explanation of the project and what it was about and then uploaded it onto the server.
